The Yankees are letting the voices of the people be heard by opening up the “Essential Games of Yankee Stadium” DVD for a people’s vote. The good thing is, it’s not a write-in so no pesky Yankee haters can attempt to stuff the ballot.
You can vote for up to five games from the list of games from the 70′s on (earlier than that, they did wonderful things like destroy films of full games so nobody will ever get to see Don Larsen’s perfect game in full again) here
I put my votes toward:
- August 6, 1979 (They run this on YES all the time as “A Farewell to the Captain”, call me a sap)
- 1996 World Series Game 6 (One of Andy Pettitte’s greatest starts.)
- July 18, 1999 (David Cone’s Perfect Game–I was there so it’s an extra special moment for me.)
- 1999 ALCS Game 1 (Great Bernie Williams memories.)
- 2003 ALCS Game 7
And for the record, anyone voting for July 1, 2004 based on the stupid dive is an enemy of the people.
