Andy’s been shut down for 2009. From nj.com:
“I’ve thrown enough innings,” Pettitte said before Wednesday night’s 6-2, 10-inning victory over the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, a game won on a Bobby Abreu grand slam. “There’s not any sense in going out and continue to kill myself now or push myself through anything.”
I am still irritated that they had Andy pitch on his normal rotation slot for so long with a bum shoulder because the team was trying to get into the playoffs through magic. That wound up hurting the team far more than helping them, great logic there. It meant not only did he pitch awfully but all the crazies like me sat there and watched him pitch badly. That said, I am glad he was able to pull something out of his ass and pitch decently for the last game at Yankee Stadium, if it is his last game ever it makes me happy he was able to go out on a special note.
