An Easy Way To Give Your Ticket Licensees A Heart Attack

This afternoon I logged onto my Yankees account as I do often, just to dick around and I clicked on the View/Pay Invoices link just to go through and make sure my ticket hadn’t mysteriously disappeared. I seriously doubted anything had changed, but lo and behold I saw this when the screen loaded:

Oh my God, what happened??

Oh my God, what happened??

So, I freaked out a bit.

I had my friend who also has ticket licenses check his account first, thinking maybe it was some blip in the system because I’ve seen lots of random blips that make no sense happen in the My Yankees Account area. His was, fine, however.

I next checked my credit card statement to make sure that my charge went through and there was nothing bizarre like a refund. Nope, nothing doing there.

At this point, I just went ahead and called the ticket office to see what was going on. After being on hold for a few minutes, I got through to a customer service representative who was very helpful. Apparently, without any other notice, my seat had been moved. Not only that, it was a bit better than before. So, I’m now in Section 423, Row 14. My account hasn’t updated as of 9pm, but if it’s not fixed by Saturday morning I’m going to ring them again. I’ve learned you can never be too sure with the Yankees.

I’m also struck by what an odd way this is to inform someone their seat has changed. What if I’m not a person who plays around with their Yankees account a lot? Couldn’t someone just toss an email or a quick call? I know things are very busy with relocation, but this isn’t a very good way of doing things.

I wish I’d gotten the name of the rep I talked too but I was honestly too happy to hear my seat had not disappeared into the abyss to ask. He was very nice and chatty (some of this might be because I am a girl, I suppose, but I could be 60!) and very helpful.

Crisis averted, for now. The Staten Island ticket pre-sale is next Friday, which means the Yankees one is likely the day before. Maybe I’ll learn about the fate of my E plan at some point before then!
