I had tickets for yesterday’s rainout and won’t be attending another evening game until the 30th because of the Yankees schedule and my plans. Toying with the idea of going tonight, I first checked what was available through Ticketmaster and was turned off by the insane day of game prices. $150 for Main Level seating? No thanks.
Going to StubHub what I learned is that buying day of game from the Yankees is clearly a thing of the past. While this won’t hold up for weekend games and such, it is a total buyers market there. Field Level starting at $20 or so, Grandstand behind Home Plate for $9, Terrace Suite for $20. There really is no reason to buy tickets directly from the team right now since they have nothing left at reasonable prices.
Whether this is a function of people buying full season packages they never intended to use, who knows, but it’s good for people who don’t want to shell out the normal prices for certain overpriced areas (*cough*Field level outfield*cough*) or just want to decide on a whim to attend a game. Until things clear up, this is the closest you’ll get to walking up to the Box Office and grabbing an affordable seat and it looks like there will be plenty of bargains out there as the season goes on and they play non-contenders.
