On Friday I thought about leaving early to avoid the rain. I feel no shame in admitting this as I’ve been rained on at plenty of baseball games across several levels this year already. But then I got caught up in everything going on and didn’t. I could have left as soon as it went into delay, sure, but then I’d be standing out in the rain on the street either waiting for the bus or with the large body of people trying to shove themselves into the train station so I stayed.
I brought my camera as I always do, but forgot to put the memory card back in it after transferring some files off. Luckily, I had my camera phone and my DSi to take bad quality pictures with. So if you’ve ever wondered what the stadium looks like from the inside during a long rain delay, here you go.
Not pictured: people playing cards in the Grandstand to waste time, everyone running around when the wind started whipping the rain into a flurry.
There’s a lot so here’s a preview picture and make sure to follow afterward:
- The beginning of the rain delay.
- Keeping busy in the Grandstand.
- People under cover. The dots are people. (1)

- Putting the finishing touches on the field.
- Here I am, waiting for the grounds crew to finish up.
- People getting back into their seats for the bottom of the 8th.
- The players take the field to warm up after the delay.
- Cleaning up the infield.
- The tarp left a nasty “river” behind.
- Us crazy people back in our seats.
- Top of the 9th, only the brave (and stupid) stayed this long.

- The crowd who stayed behind hiding from the weather.
- My seat got very wet as it started to come down.
- The picture is blurry because of all the rain kicking around. MONSOON!

Windy with a chance of dingers.
