A Break From The Insanity

With all the aggravating Hall of Fame ballot quotes floating around, I wanted to highlight something from Frank Clines of ExpressMilwaukee.com that I thought was a breath of fresh air:

I say it’s not up to the writers to police MLB’s game. If guys from the steroid era are on the Hall ballot, I look at where they rank among their peers and vote accordingly. If MLB or the Hall decides to ban someone from the ballot, as was done with Pete Rose, fine. But it’s their responsibility.

We’ve observed many people who have decided their role in the vote is to be an arbitrator of morality, where Clines thinks the opposite. He picks who he thinks is a Hall of Fame player from the list he’s provided without worrying about the sanctity of the game or whatever angle is most popular right now.

I just liked seeing someone with a simple, honest approach and after some of the stuff I’ve seen it cheered me up a lot. So thank you for that Mr Clines.
